Bible Note Quote: "Here I am, like Moses, but much less worthy, on the "backside of the dessert" as it were, and while peering across the apparently barren landscape of my life there is a burning bush that captures my attention and my heart. The fire of the bush corresponds with the fire in my heart and I cannot help but follow... The fire still burns!"
quote from The Fire of God's Word Still Burns! ~ ~ (see former quotes here: Bible Note Quote Archives)

Introducing Bible Notes & Why Bible Notes?

I am here quoting from the original home of Bible Notes as hosted by Associate.com.

I am planning to list all Bible Notes that appear there in this forum. However, this might be a lot of work and I may decide to give links to where they are archived on the Associate.com website. I intend no competition with Runboard. By opening this Bible Notes message board, I just intend to have another avenue through which to share Bible Notes.

quote:

Bible Notes, a FREE e-mail Bible commentary/editorial, usually produced one to five times each month (as the "Bible Note Writer" is able), deals with various questions, issues, and life situations from the angle of what the Bible has to say about it. The purpose for Bible Notes is to glorify God and to help people make it to Heaven.

Note that the "one to five times each month" frequency has greatly diminished, but I do still intend to continue producing Bible Notes.

The Bible Notes Forum is only for reading. If you desire to post a comment, please go to the
Main Chat Forum OR, if you desire to ask a Bible Question, please post in the
Bible Questions Forum

One handy tool for perusing the Bible Notes hosted here will be the
Bible Notes Index.
Each topic will be listed (mostly in the order in which Bible Notes were originally produced). (This is currently a work in progress -- as of August 23, 2015.)

Why Bible Notes?

The following note was sent to the Bible Notes subscribers on the 27th fo June, 2004.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Why Bible Notes?

Since, I am getting ready to address a very important question in my next Bible Note, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" (sound familiar?), I
thought it would be good at this time to remind the reader what Bible Notes is all about.

It was three or four years ago that I had received several cute, funny, and interesting emails. I thought it would be good to send some emails that communicated what the Bible has to say about various questions and life issues that we face. I came up with a name for this idea, "Bible Notes".

I am persuaded that all truly important questions which actually need some kind of an answer can and should be answered by the One alone who knows the answers. Neither myself nor some other strictly human teacher or preacher would know all the answers, but God does. These answers I was -- and still am -- convinced can be found in the Word of God, the Bible. Therefore, I began to share these things as I discovered them through Bible Notes.

The ultimate goal of Bible Notes is two-fold:

1. To glorify God
2. To help never-dying souls to make it to Heaven in the end.

Since I am but one very limited person, I encourage people to send me questions and suggestions that would help me in this endeavor.

Yours In Christ,
Martin Overfield
