The Secret to Finding Amazing Grace
The Secret to Finding Amazing Grace
(A revival lesson)
"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble." James 4:6 (Full text at the end below)
The message for the church today is NOT new. It is the same message as ever before, humble yourselves before God and He will give you grace!
Grace for the Fallen
Dear brother or sister, have you fallen into sin? Have you backslidden into a life of sin? No matter whether it was a momentary slip backward or whether it became a more permanent condition, HUMBLE yourself before God and repent of your sin(s), confessing and forsaking them. He SHALL lift you up. Trust Jesus Christ as the only way back to the Father’s house!
"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." (1John 2:1-2)
Grace for the Fullness of the Blessing
Do you find yourself in need of more grace? Then, humble yourselves before God more! Do you want to be so full of God’s grace that a mighty revival of God’s grace rains down upon your soul? Then, humble yourselves completely and continually before God!
The complete consecration of oneself to God is all about humbling oneself and glorifying God. Say “Yes!” to God and His perfect will about everything. It means that you and I acknowledge that we know nothing apart from Him and that we are entirely dependent upon Him for both the knowledge of His will (light from God) AND the power to DO His will (by the grace of God).
The purity of our hearts is about letting God’s Holy Spirit come and cleanse completely and take control.
One might say, “Yeah, but, IF I surrender all my will in every area of my life to God, doesn’t that mean that my will is then broken, and that I become a robot?” No! in fact, the surrendered will is only broken in the sense that the stubbornness of having our own way is broken upon the blessedness of letting God have His way IN us!
Our relationship with God continues to be a cooperation between our will and His will. At any point where our human will and understanding falls short of the will and leadership of God, we just say “Yes, Lord!”, and let Him continue to have His way. We wait upon Him in prayer and in meditating on His Word, asking and trusting Him for what we need to walk continually with our hand in His hand.
It is a love relationship that is based upon a true understanding of how limited we are in comparison with God and how lost and unholy we are apart from His grace. We see ourselves as nothing and less than nothing without Him, but then we see how high and holy He is! We see how almighty, how all-knowing, all-wise, and etc. that He is! We see how He is the God of all grace, the God of all comfort, and the God Who IS Love!
This very same God we then see as utterly trustworthy! He is the God Who will NEVER fail! He is the God Who has promised us all the grace we need, IF we will but humble ourselves and submit to Him! Then, we can look up to Him and trust HIM! Lean on Him and His never-failing promises!
With all that in mind, we humble ourselves before Him, Who is the Almighty God, Who alone is worthy of all praise! And, oh wondrous and amazing thought!, the Almighty God reaches down and LIFTS us UP by His amazing GRACE!
He will lift up the fallen.
He will lift up the Christian who needs heart purity.
He will lift up those who are sorely tempted.
He will lift up the saints to higher planes than they have ever known before.
AND, one day, all those who love Him at His appearing, He will lift up to be with Him forever!
Remember the words of Jesus Christ: "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." (Revelation 3:21)
"But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." James 4:6-10
