Bible Note Quote: "Here I am, like Moses, but much less worthy, on the "backside of the dessert" as it were, and while peering across the apparently barren landscape of my life there is a burning bush that captures my attention and my heart. The fire of the bush corresponds with the fire in my heart and I cannot help but follow... The fire still burns!"
quote from The Fire of God's Word Still Burns! ~ ~ (see former quotes here: Bible Note Quote Archives)

Remember the dreams!?

Remember the dreams!?

This is not a sermon, nor a Bible Note, and probably will not even become a poem or song yet... But, I thought I would share a few thoughts.

Recently, I felt the tremendous burden of depressing emotions with the contemplation of personal failures in my life. It seemed as though the hopes and dreams of my young Christian life have been dashed into a million pieces -- from the era of my late teens to early twenties (I am now 47!).

When I graduated from Bible Missionary Academy (in Wayne, Michigan), and then five years later I graduated from Bible Missionary Institute (Bible college in Rock Island, Illinois), I had dreams of accomplishing much for God -- you know, things like going out to save the world and etc.

Oh the agony when the dreams are dashed! Oh the sense of failure when I often see nothing more than the mundane responsibilities in life barely met, or worse.

This is not a statement of my present spiritual condition. This is not a declaration of defeat. I am just sharing a scene in the mental, emotional, and spiritual battlefield that some of us sometimes experience.

Yes, I know God is still on the throne. Yes, I know God still answers prayer and that His grace is sufficient. Yes, I know that God makes all things work together for good to them that love Him, including even their dashed dreams.

But, the battle is real and the pain is deep. The tears I cannot adequately pen, nor can I paint the canvass in colors clear or rich enough. When such a battle ensues, I must call upon the name of the Lord for deliverance. My own sermons sometimes come back around to taunt me, while also giving me the hope of victory even in the midst of apparent defeat -- such hope as I oft times tried to give to others!

Yes, I DO REMEMBER the dreams! May the Lord grant that they shall be resurrected to the glory of God, but only according to His perfect will.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
