The Bible is NOT silent on the subject, far from it. In fact, as I have been prayerfully contemplating the matter of suffering, I have realized that it is a very deep and broad subject. Many, or even most, topics of study in the Bible relate to suffering either directly or indirectly. For the moment, I just want to point out that the Christian should compare his suffering to the promised future rewards. There are two verses that have been on my mind for months now. "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:17, 18 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;" 2 Corinthians 4:17 Both of these references carry the idea that the suffering is used of God in the process of getting us to our eternal reward. But, notice with me and measure that the undesired suffering is for a very short time compared to the endless duration of eternity. Not only that, but the glory, or the reward, is going to far outweigh the suffering in the scale of comparison. We are to compare this temporal negative, suffering, to an eternal positive, glory! Likewise, we are to compare the physical and material sufferings, hardships, afflictions, and etc... to the spiritual, intangible glorious condition of our souls in the hereafter, not to mention the glory we have while still here in this life! Dear people, the Bible says that there really is no comparison here! Even if we suffer our entire life, which is as a "vapor" compared to eternity, and make it into that eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we will look back and say a thousand times over that is was worth it all! Oh how indescribably wonderful the Christian's future state of glory must be for the Word of God to make such a comparison! To God be the glory, great things He hath done!nondisclosed_email@example.com (OldWarrior)Sat, 30 Jul 2016 16:43:07 +0000
